This White Paper was written by Mike Cheslock in early 2017, and is an interesting perspective on the real-world risks of data wiping operations.  Having identified and resolved numerous examples of failures in data wiping operations, Mike shares his thoughts on the stark contrast of the areas of data wiping that are often perceived as important, and those that deserve the most attention.

This 2013 White Paper by Mike Cheslock discusses the evolution of the data destruction process, and the industry's eventual adoption of the idea that quality control is a critical component of any data wiping operation.  It also discusses the different elements to a data wiping operation that must be monitored in order to achieve reasonable certainty that the process is being executed in accordance with established policy and procedure.
